Australian Government Guidelines on the Recognition of Sex and Gender
In 2013, the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 was amended to introduce new protections from discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation, gender identity and intersex status in many areas of public life. These legal protections are complemented by the Australian Government Guidelines on the Recognition of Sex and Gender. The guidelines standardise the evidence required for a person to change their sex/gender in personal records held by Australian Government departments and agencies.

Gender Outlaw: On Men, Women and the rest of Us by Kate Bornstein
Gender Outlaw is the work of a woman who has been through some changes--a former heterosexual male, a one-time Scientologist and IBM salesperson, now a lesbian woman writer and actress who makes regular rounds on the TV (so to speak) talk shows. In her book, Bornstein covers the "mechanics" of her surgery, everything you've always wanted to know about gender (but were too confused to ask) addresses the place and politics of the transgendered and interrogates the questions of those who give the subject little thought, creating questions of her own.
The Gender Spectrum Lounge (affiliated with the genderspectrum.org website) is a global online forum and social networking community for gender-expansive teens, their families, and support professionals to connect, collaborate, and find resources.
Genderqueer Australia began in 2010 as a peer support group for Gender Questioning, Genderqueer and Trans people, and their family and friends.

Organisation Intersex International Australia Limited
The Australian affiliate of Organisation Internationale des Intersexués - the only worldwide organization of intersex people, and the largest organization of intersex people. They have excellent resources for allies, parents and professionals.
Australia’s first nationally-oriented counselling and referral service for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or intersex (LGBTI). QLife provides nation-wide, early intervention, peer supported telephone and web based services to people of all ages across the full breadth of people’s bodies, genders, relationships, and sexualities. They have informative videos and resources too.
